Stena Drilling is one of the world’s foremost independent drilling contractors, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Stena AB.
Stena Drilling operates three semi-submersibles; the Stena Clyde, Stena Don and Stena Spey. Both Stena Clyde and Stena Spey are conventionally moored units; whilst Stena Don is dynamically positioned. With drilling depths of up to 25,000 ft, Stena Drilling’s fleet of semi-submersibles can operate in water depths up to 1,640 ft.

The Stena Clyde is a semi-submersible, twin pontoon, column stabilised drilling unit, Aker H3 design. The vessel has been modified with an additional six stability columns to provide adequate operating deck load for operations in 1,640ft water depths. A Cameron TL 18¾”15,000 WP H2S Service BOP is fitted. The Stena Clyde has an SBOP capability for a water depth of 5,000 ft.
The Stena Don is a harsh environment dynamically positioned Class 3 semi submersible drilling, completion and workover vessel for worldwide operations. The Stena Don has a capability for a water depth up to 1640ft using a 18 ¾” – 15,000psi WP ‘TL’ Cameron BOP and Cameron 21” LK 2.0 riser.
The Stena Spey is a Friede & Goldman L907 (enhanced Pacesetter) twin pontoon, column stabilised self propelled, semi submersible offshore drilling unit. The Stena Spey has a SBOP capability for a water depth of 5,000ft using 18 ¾” – 15,000psi Hydril BOP and Vetco MR-6C riser.
