When it comes to well-educated and skilled personnel, the Stena Sphere companies, many with their roots in western Sweden, have a lot to thank the colleges and universities in the region for.
For the Stena Sphere to continue to be able to compete for qualified personnel, Gothenburg has to be seen as an attractive city with a rich and varied cultural life and good schools. Stena supports local universities in Gothenburg but also in other important cities where it operates as well as international charity and environmental organisations.
Stena supports culture and research in Gothenburg in many different ways:
The Sten A. Olsson Foundation for Research and Culture
The aim of the foundation is to administer and distribute funds from Stena AB and the Olsson family. Its goal is to promote scientific research and development primarily in architecture, economics, ships, finance and property activities, trade, medicine, the environment and technology as well as all art and culture-related subjects and Christian societies.http://www.stenastiftelsen.se/en/

At the Stena Center, the Chalmers Innovation Foundation develops seed companies from Chalmers University of Technology and Gothenburg University and spin-offs of companies in the Gothenburg area. Here, entrepreneurs are offered business development advice and training in premises with good services, good contacts with Chalmers University of Technology and an entrepreneurial and innovative environment close to venture capital. The Stena Center houses some 30 seed companies.
Göteborg Museum of Art
In May, 1994, Stena AB donated funds to refurbish the Göteborg Museum of Art. At the same time a new gallery, the Stenasalen, was built next to the entrance.
During the years donations have been made to the Opera, Gothenburg school of Economics and Business Administration, Universeum and Röda Sten.
We believe in the Stena way, that’s why we act within our values, showing respect for the environment and the communities in which we work. With a continuous aim of creating further shared opportunities, all of our current Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives can be seen below:
